STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.  (May 25, 20012) — Consider this question from the Staten Island Board of Realtors: Is New York City’s greenest borough — aka the Borough of Parks — getting  greener?

The answer is: Yes! 

One of the latest “greenings” of Staten Island, however, is not a park —  it’s a building.

According to the Staten Island Advance/SILive:

“It is a building designed and constructed with the highest standards of sustainability in mind: The Staten Island Mental Health Society’s St. George Children’s Mental Health Center is powered by solar panels on the roof and heated and cooled by geothermal wells 1,500 feet underground.

The 13,000-square-foot remade factory has been in use since the fall, but had its formal unveiling Friday. …”
