STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.  (June 28, 2012) – The number of home sales on Staten Island slightly dipped during the combined months of March, April and May.

Sales for the period were down 3.5 percent as compared to the same time frame in 2011, according to the latest data released from the Staten Island Board of Realtors (SIBOR). For the year to date, homes sales were off less than 2 percent.

Sandy Krueger, CEO of the Staten Island Board of Realtors

The median sales price for the period rose 3.2 percent to $387,000.

The time to get a property into contract, however, climbed by almost 10 percent to approx. 203 days.

Some of the most recent numbers for 2012 suggest a bit of optimism when compared to the same period a year earlier.

“Looking forward, the number of properties going under contract is up 26 percent for the three months and 29 percent for 2012, which should result in increased sales further into the year,” said Sandy Krueger, CEO of SIBOR.
