New York City Councilman James Oddo honored alongside Realtors during SIBOR’s annual membership meeting and elections

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Staten Island Board of Realtors (SIBOR) presented its William “Bill” Coull Realtor Service Award to Doreen and Frank Frazer during its annual membership meeting and elections breakfast this morning. Also honored at the event were Dil Gillani, who received SIBOR’s Realtor of the Year Award, and City Councilman James Oddo, who was presented with SIBOR’s Community Service Award.

The name of this year’s Realtor of the Year Award was kept under wraps until this morning; Gillani was out of town at the time of the announcement.

The awards breakfast took place in the Hilton Garden Inn, Bloomfield.

The breakfast began with our national anthem, powerfully performed by Jack Furnari, a former non-Realtor member of the SIBOR Board of Directors.

DIL GILLANI

Dil Gillani, broker owner of Gillani Homes, is actively involved in community service and charitable fund-raising. He opened his company in March 2008, after entering the real estate industry eight years earlier.

Gillani has been involved with SIBOR since 2005, serving on various committees, as well as SIBOR’s Board of Directors. He will hold the board position of secretary treasurer for 2013.

Gillani holds the rare and highly coveted designation of Certified Residential Specialist (CRS).

He was awarded SIEDC’S 20 Under 40 Award in 2011, and subsequently, The Best Companies To Work For On Staten Island Award in 2012.

In addition to his involvement with SIBOR, Gillani is a member of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, the Young Realtor Group of SIBOR, the Young Professionals Group of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as the 40/40 Club. An extension of the Staten Island Economic Development Corp., the 40/40 Club is comprised of young business professionals whose goal is to network and promote business development on Staten Island.

On a company level, Gillani Homes gives back to the community by donating 1 percent of the commission earned on the sale of a listing, to the charity of the homeowner’s choice. In addition, Gillani has made it a company tradition to host several annual functions, including an anniversary party, summer barbeque and annual holiday party — all of which are fund-raising opportunities. One hundred percent of all proceeds raised through these events is donated to the charities of choice for that year.

THE FRAZERS

The Frazers are one of only two married couples of which each spouse has served as president of SIBOR.

In addition, each has been honored as a SIBOR Realtor of the Year.

The Frazers’ contributions to the real estate industry and Staten Island are far reaching:

DOREEN FRAZER

Mrs. Frazer and her husband launched Frandore Real Estate in 1977. She became a member of SIBOR one year later, and after serving in a variety of board and committee posts, was elected SIBOR president in 1993 and 1994.

Mrs. Frazer has served the real estate industry both on and off her native community of Staten Island Island.

As co-chair of the Committee of Downstate Realtor Boards, she lobbied for — and accomplished getting — the Real Estate Commission in New York.

Mrs. Frazer has served as a director on the New York State Board of Realtors (NYSAR), contributing her leadership skills as the co-chair of the state organization’s Multiple Listing Service Committee, and additionally serving on the Legislative and Realtors Political Action committees.

FRANK FRAZER

As mentioned, the Frazers opened the doors to Frandore Real Estate in 1977. Along with his wife, Frazer joined SIBOR in 1978.

After serving on a variety of committees, Frazer rose to the SIBOR presidency, serving in the post for two terms, 1986 and 1987.

Volunteering on a statewide level, Frazer was a director of the NYSAR Board, serving on the Multiple Listing Service, Legislative and Realtors Political Action committees.

Within the community of Staten Island, Frazer has contributed his efforts to a wide variety of initiatives. Having served as president of the South Shore Rotary Club, he was additionally honored as a Rotarian of the Year and awarded the distinction of a Paul Harris Fellow.

Frazer has served as a member of Community Board 2; treasurer of the Boy Scouts, Unami District; a member of various charitable committees for groups such as the American Cancer Society, YMCA and Stephen Siller Foundation, and spearheaded the formations of Cub Scout Pack 1 at Staten Island Academy.

During his earlier years in the U.S. Marine Corp, 1962 to 1966, Frazer served two tours in combat during the war in Vietnam, 1964 to 1966, and was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation; Combat Action Ribbon; Vietnam Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart.

The Frazers have two sons, two grandsons, and a third on the way.

Bill Coull, for whom the prestigious Realtor Service Award is named, was a real estate broker and home inspector for many years. As a Realtor he was one of the founding members of the Staten Island Multiple Listing Service and the Richmond County Real Estate Institute, where he was one of the principle instructors.
