Staten Island, N.Y. – Members of Staten Island’s real estate community took center stage yesterday (March 14), but not before helping others during an annual gala celebrating the industry’s top producers in the borough.

Nancy Goldhill, project director of Staten Island Legal Services, thanks the Staten Island Board of Realtors upon receiving a $10,000 donation for her organization from SIBOR President Traci Cangiano.

The Top Producer Awards breakfast was part of the Staten Island Board of Realtors’ (SIBOR) Agent Day & Trade Show. The daylong event at the Hilton Garden Inn, Bloomfield, included more than 70 national and local suppliers, and abundant networking opportunities.

The early morning activities began with SIBOR donating $10,000 to Staten Island Legal Services, part of Legal Services NYC, the nation’s largest provider of free legal assistance to low-income people.

“Assemblyman Matthew Titone is responsible for making SIBOR aware of the group’s financial needs, as they are now helping numerous clients deal with legal issues resulting from Hurricane Sandy,” said Sandy Krueger, CEO of the Staten Island Board of Realtors.

SIBOR president Tracy Cangiano presented the donation to Nancy Goldhill, project director of Staten Island Legal Services, who accepted on behalf of her organization.

Mrs. Cangiano then turned her attention to the scores of Realtors in the room.

“It was my privilege to honor the best of the best in our local real estate community, and to welcome the very first members into the newly inaugurated SIBOR Hall of Fame,” she said. “Each of the Hall of Famers has been a SIBOR top producer for the past 10 consecutive years.”

HALL OF FAMERS

Inducted yesterday into the SIBOR Hall of Fame were Ken Licata, Joyce Marchione, Anthony Ragucci, Gail Sweeney and Anthony Whelan.

“SIBOR’s Annual Agent Day which includes a trade show, seminars and our Top Producer Awards Ceremony has grown dramatically over the last four years,” said Sandy Krueger, CEO of SIBOR. “Real Estate success requires specialized skills, critical relationships with professionals in allied industries, and the deployment of ever-changing technology. There are many opportunities around the country to address these needs. The SIBOR program brings them together here, on Staten Island, for SIBOR Realtor members, many of whom don’t have the ability to take advantage of the more distant events. It’s a great day and a great opportunity for everyone involved.”

Vendors – ranging from bankers and mortgage brokers to home-security experts, home-inspection firms, home-improvement companies, movers, and more – featured products and services throughout the day.

The expo’s keynote speaker was John Mayfield, aka ‘The Business Tech Guy,” who presented two seminars: “21 Mistakes Real Estate Agents Make and How to Avoid Them” and “Seven Secrets to Success with Today’s Technology.”

Agent Day focuses on more than real estate, said Neila Nuzzi, chairperson of the event.

“The conference includes aspects of everything associated with real estate,” she said. “The day was created to help SIBOR members grow their businesses and benefit from the services offered by the array of fine quality vendors in our area.”

A total of 114 Top Producer awards for performance in 2012 were presented at yesterday’s breakfast gathering. Top Producer designations are annually awarded, for exceptional listing and selling activity, to associate brokers and sales associates. The Top Producer Committee was co-chaired by the husband-and-wife team of Mike and Georgianna Diaz.
