Over the last couple of years, NYC has seen an increase of people interested in skateboarding, but there aren’t that many skate parks in NYC. And those that do exist, in the Bronx, lower Manhattan, or Brooklyn, are only useable when it’s not raining or snowing.

In Stapleton, though, there’s 5050 Skatepark, the only indoor skatepark in the city. The park, run by Angelica Popolano and Ed Pollio, features 8,000 square feet of ramps and rails. 5050 opened in 2011 and has been featured in the New York Times, ESPN, and The Wall Street Journal
