The 110-acre Ocean Breeze Park was created from land that once belonged to Staten Island University Hospital. Projects are currently in the works to add another 25+ acres to Ocean Breeze Park by joining South Beach State Park and Midland Beach Park. In addition to making the park bigger, this project will enhance the unique topography of the park, which includes sand dunes, wetlands, grasslands, and a shrub forest.

How to get there: Ocean Breeze Park is located on Staten Island’s south shore and is situated between Fort Wadsworth and Miller Field [GMAP]. The park is located in Staten Island’s Ocean Breeze and South Beach neighborhoods, most well known for being the location of Staten Island University Hospital and the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Boardwalk and Beach.

What to do: In addition to its natural beauty, Ocean Breeze Park is adding a 2,500-seat field house that will include a state-of-the-art indoor track and field facility. This newly constructed amenity will be a premier destination for athletic events, and the indoor parking lot will make it easier to attend events in the park. It won’t be just for running, either: the facility will contain two long jump pits, a pole vault, a high jump, and areas for throwing events such as the shot put.

During the summer months, Ocean Breeze Park is home to Fantasy Shore Amusement Park. Staten Island’s only amusement park for young children. It offers four rides and can be rented out for birthday parties and other special occasions.

Another unique feature of Ocean Breeze Park is its therapeutic horseback riding arena. The $5.8 million dollar facility is the first indoor, year-round arena of its kind on Staten Island. The 5,800-square-foot area also includes stables sections for feeding and grooming the horses and an observation area for Staten Islanders who just want to watch.
