STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Aug. 25, 2015) – The Staten Island Board of Realtors (SIBOR) recently presented a $10,500 check to Staten Island  University Hospital earmarked for the planned SIUH/Kids Against Cancer pediatric-oncology center.

The funds were raised in June during the organization’s Realtors’ Challenge Cup golf outing, held at the Grand Oaks Country Club, Huguenot.

Ron Molcho, a SIBOR director and chairman of the event, and Dil Gillani, president of SIBOR, presented the check to Dr. Philip Roth, director of Neonatology and the Department of Pediatrics at SIUH, and Dr. Sarah Vaiselbuh, a pediatric hematology-oncology expert and director of the new wing.

Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) and Kids Against Cancer (KAC) predict that the suite will double SIUH’s capacity for outpatient chemotherapy treatments as alternatives to hospitalization. It will be on the second floor of the hospital’s Nalitt Building, 256C Mason Ave.

Children with cancer and blood-related disorders will have a child-friendly environment containing features like a one-wall fish tank, running waterfall with a teen’s corner, interactive video games, an IT wall with touch screens, and an exposition of fluttering butterflies.
