CLEAN UP Online poll features the top 6 public service announcements that were submitted as part of initiative

Staten Island, N.Y. (June 9, 2014) – Last month, Staten Island Borough President James S. Oddo announced a contest, asking Staten Islanders to create their own PSAs to fight litter and keep Staten Island clean. PSAs were accepted for one month and the team at Borough Hall has selected the Top 6 which will be voted on by the community on Borough Hall’s Website: www.statenislandusa.com.

The Staten Island Board of Realtors (SIBOR)  is proud to share news of this initiative on our blog.

The anti-litter videos, most of which were made using camera phones, were short, to-the-point and made by Islanders ranging from middle school students to adults with a hobby in filmmaking.

“We have to take our anti-littering message to as wide an audience of Staten Islanders as possible,” said Borough President Oddo.  “What better way to reach Staten Islanders than by tapping into the creativity of Staten Islanders?”

The Top 6 were made by students from IS 72, Josh Pesin, Aria Mutkoski, James Demiro, Evan Batov, and Jarryl Collier.

“These PSAs were really impressive and really focused on a clean Staten Island,” said Oddo. “They displayed community spirit, which was a pleasure to watch. I’ll need the public’s help to declare a winner because they are all good in different ways.”
