2-day ‘Home Remodeler’s Showcase’ will mark 30th anniversary of the Staten Island Home Improvement Contractors Association; visitors to get a chance at $500 SI Mall gift certificate
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – A highly anticipated home-improvement expo has captured the attention of many New Yorkers, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
On Saturday [March 17], one of the leading home-contractors organizations in the region will launch its two-day “Home Remodeler’s Showcase” with a “wood-cutting” ceremony in the center court of the Staten Island Mall.
The expo, which runs Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will mark the 30th anniversary of the Staten Island Home Improvement Contractors Association (HIC), and the group’s first show since aligning with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) in 2011.
‘TERRIFIC SHOWCASE’
“It is impossible to imagine New York without the contributions of the contractors who make our great city go,” said New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, “… and as our population continues to grow, we will rely on these men and women to provide the expertise, elbow grease and timely service that our property owners depend on and deserve.
“That is why we are proud to applaud the Staten Island HIC for its hard work and advocacy, and together, we look forward to contractors and their clients alike benefitting from this terrific showcase.”
A single visit to the mall on either of the two days will provide homeowners with an opportunity to meet some of the top local craftsmen in the industry, featuring a wide array of home-improvement products and services.
Visitors also are invited to obtain a free raffle at the HIC booth for a chance to win a $500 Staten Island Mall Gift Certificate.
LICENSED AND INSURED
“We are honored that Mayor Bloomberg shares our enthusiasm, and thrilled to provide our neighbors with a chance to explore their home-improvement options in such a convenient way,” said Steve Coppola, president of NARI-HIC and head of APB Security Systems, based in the Staten Island community of Meiers Corners.
All NARI-HIC members are government-licensed and insured in their respective trades, carefully screened prior to acceptance in the organization and continually monitored for performance.
“Helping to ensure consumer satisfaction, both the Staten Island chapter and national organization require and enforce strict rules of professionalism, conduct and ethics for each of its members,” Coppola said. “As New York City’s economy continues to heal, a growing number of homeowners will be turning to contractors for help. It’s vital for their protection that they follow the recommendation of the city Department of Consumer Affairs by selecting only licensed and insured home-improvement professionals.”
Approximately 30 NARI-HIC exhibitors at the upcoming mall event will be offering an expansive variety of home-improvement products and services, such as home-security systems and monitoring; heating and cooling; kitchen and bath renovations; windows and siding; interior/exterior cleaning and sanitizing; general contracting; swimming pool design, installation and maintenance, and more.
