STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The city is seeking a developer for a dormant building at the former Coast Guard base in St. George, a move the president of the long-stalled National Lighthouse Museum said could be a vital step in preserving Staten Island’s place in maritime history.
Though she doesn’t know what the competition may bring, Linda Dianto is ready to answer a Request for Proposals, issued today by the city Economic Development Corporation, in the hopes of finally obtaining a key to what is known as Building 11.
“We definitely will be responding,” she said. “We are moving forward. We are in this to the end, as they say.”
