STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Borough President James P. Molinaro and The Interfaith Council of Clergy are invited the public to attend the “We Are the Light of the World” prayer service on Sunday.
The gathering will honor the 23 Staten Island victims of Hurricane Sandy and the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn.
The service will take place on Jan. 6, 3 p.m., at Holy Rosary Church, 80 Jerome Ave., in South Beach.
Molinaro, who suggested the idea of an interfaith service to Cardinal Timothy Dolan, said “Sunday is the Feast of the Epiphany, which celebrates the ‘shining forth’ or revelation of God to mankind. It is in this spirit that we are providing Staten Islanders of all faiths with an opportunity to come together to offer prayers and extend comfort to the families that have been victimized by these two tragedies. All are welcome to attend, and I hope to see you there.”
