STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A vacant warehouse in Rosebank — known as the Wrigley Building because it is where Juicy Fruit and Spearmint gum were made early last century — is on the market for $8 million, a return to an earlier proposal to convert it into luxury condos with views of the Narrows.
It is the latest in residential and retail plans to capitalize on the North Shore’s waterfront.
“I think it’s reality, I think that finally there’s new life and breath coming into our commercial corridor, that hub,” said Michael Schneider, first vice president of sales for Massey Knakal Realty in Manhattan, which is marketing the building.
“There’s a need for luxury rentals. Not everyone can afford Brooklyn, it’s astronomical. This project is viable, it has history, it has pedigree.” READ MORE …
