Presentations to feature business leaders with international expertise in real estate sales and development, finance, economics, law, and cultures
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Global Real Estate Summit and Expo in New York will be held for the first time in its 10-year history outside of Staten Island.
The annual symposium presented by the Staten Island Board of Realtors® (SIBOR) will be co-hosted by the Brooklyn Real Estate Board Sept. 15, at the Dyker Beach Golf Course in Brooklyn.
Relocating the Summit to a new venue across the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is a logical next step in its growth as a prominent business event, said Sandy Krueger, CEO of SIBOR.
“Talking about global real estate requires that we expand horizons beyond our boundaries,” Krueger explained. “We see this initiative evolving into a citywide program.”
A variety of notable businesses and organizations will participate at the Summit, such as: Douglas Elliman Real Estate; Halstead Property; New York Wheel; Sotheby’s International Realty; Toll Brothers; New York City Economic Development Corp.; NYC Department of City Planning; NYU School of Professional Studies Schack Institute of Real Estate; Wells Fargo Home Mortgage; Empire State Bank; HSBC Bank USA; Lennar Urban; Turnberry Associates; Triangle Equities; Keller Williams Realty; CBRE; NY1 News, and others.
The daylong event also will include the Global Real Estate Summit’s 2016 media partners: The Real Deal; Staten Island Media Group (Staten Island Advance/SILive.com); Star Network, and Brooklyn Home Reporter.
Presenting sponsor of SIBOR’s 10th annual Global Real Estate Summit is InterContinental Capital Group.
WHERE AND WHEN
The Sept. 15 conference will take place 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dyker Beach Golf Course, 1020 86th St., Brooklyn, N.Y. The event includes a day filled with information and networking opportunities for real estate professionals and entrepreneurs seeking to work with foreign buyers.
U.S ATTRACTS INTERNATIONAL BUYERS
“Global real estate is a hot topic, with the Unites States – and our hometown of New York City – continuing to attract foreign buyers,” said SIBOR director Ron Molcho, chairman of the Global Real Estate Summit.
U.S. residential real estate sales to international clients accounted for $102 billion between April 2015 and March 2016, according to the “2016 Profile of International Activity” from the National Association of Realtors®. The report indicated that five states accounted for half of foreign buyer purchases.
Buyers flocked to New York, Florida, California, Texas and Arizona. New York and California drew the most Asian buyers, while Texas mostly saw sales activity from Latin American, Caribbean and Asian buyers. Latin Americans, Europeans and Canadians – who tend to buy in warm climates for vacation purposes – mostly sought properties in Florida and Arizona.
WIDE RANGE OF TOPICS
“The Global Summit is particularly well-timed this year, as investors throughout the world continue to weigh the effect of Brexit on world events, which is causing investors to look more than ever for safe havens,” said Claire Bisignano Chesnoff, president of SIBOR. “This is an event that shouldn’t be missed.”
Experts at the symposium will cover a range of topics, such as: “Financial Issues in Global Transactions; “Marketing Across Borders: The Developer Connection;” “Paradigm Shift: The Multi-Cultural Millennial Effect;” “The Renaissance of Staten Island’s North Shore,” and “A Broker’s Perspective: Rules of International Engagement.”
