Staten Island Realtors Providing Hurricane Ida Disaster Relief to Borough Residents
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Staten Island Board of REALTORS® (SIBOR) is providing financial aid to help local residents displaced by Hurricane Ida’s flooding. SIBOR, in partnership with the National Association of REALTORS® Relief Foundation and New York Association of REALTORS®, is helping eligible applicants who were negatively affected by the storm and in need of housing assistance.
“Created by the National Association of Realtors® in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF) is a charitable organization dedicated to providing housing-related assistance to victims of disasters,” said Sandy Krueger, CEO of the Staten Island Board of Realtors®. “Staten Islanders were among the very first recipients of RRF funding in 2001 through coordination with of our Realtor community. Now marking 20 years since its inception, the Relief Foundation has helped over 17,000 families remain in their homes through the efforts of local Realtor organizations, such as SIBOR.”
Funds are available to qualified applicants toward one of the following options:
1) Monthly mortgage expense for the primary residence that was damaged by the Hurricane Ida disaster, or
2) Rental cost due to displacement from the primary residence resulting from the Hurricane Ida disaster.
Relief assistance is limited to a maximum of $2,000 per applicant per household.
